Ask a foreman what they're short on and almost nobody says technical skill first. They say reliability. They say someone who reads the drawing before touching the tool, and who tells you early when something is wrong instead of hiding it until Friday.

That's the part service teaches relentlessly, and it's the part that transfers with no translation. The technical piece — the welds, the bends, the load calcs — is a training problem, and training problems have solutions that cost money.
